Trail to Trzy Korony (982m.)
Route length: 7 km (depending on the chosen variant)
Hiking time: approx. 4–5 hours (round trip)
Difficulty level: moderate
Starting point: Sromowce Niżne or Krościenko nad Dunajcem
Route description:
Trzy Korony is the most recognizable peak of the Pieniny Mountains and one of the must-see highlights of every trip. The most popular trail leads from the village of Sromowce Niżne to the viewing platform on Okrąglica – the highest summit of Trzy Korony. From the top, there is a spectacular panorama of the Pieniny Mountains, the Tatras and the Dunajec River Gorge.
Attractions along the way:
- Unique nature of the Pieniny National Park.
- Viewing platform on Okrąglica – breathtaking panoramic landscapes.
Tips:
- Access to the viewing platform is paid.
- Bring comfortable trekking shoes and water.
- It is best to start the hike in the morning to avoid crowds.
- The most interesting trail leads through the Szopczański Gorge from Sromowce, marked on the map next to it.
Trial to Sokolica (747 m.)
Route length: approx. 8 km (round trip)
Hiking time: 3–4 hours
Difficulty level: moderate
Starting point: Krościenko nad Dunajcem
Route description:
Sokolica is famous for one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Dunajec River Gorge. The trail leads through a picturesque beech forest, and the ascent is moderately steep. At the summit there is a characteristic solitary relic pine, which has become a symbol of the Pieniny Mountains. The view of the winding Dunajec River is unforgettable and is an excellent spot for photography.
Attractions along the way:
- Forest of the Pieniny National Park.
- Viewing platform at the summit of Sokolica.
- View of the Dunajec River Gorge with the Tatras in the background.
Tips:
- The ascent to the summit can be very steep, so proper footwear is recommended.
- Not recommended after rainfall.
- Not recommended for people with a fear of heights.
- Entrance to the summit is paid.
Homole Gorge
Route length: approx. 3 km (round trip)
Hiking time: 1–1.5 hours
Difficulty level: easy
Starting point: Jaworki
Route description:
Homole Gorge is an ideal destination for a family trip. The trail leads through a narrow, picturesque gorge where you can admire high limestone cliffs and the rushing Kamionka stream. The route is easy and well prepared, with numerous wooden footbridges and paths. At the end of the gorge there is a clearing with benches where you can rest and admire the surrounding landscape.
Attractions along the way:
- High limestone walls of the gorge with remarkable rock formations.
- Wooden footbridges and the crystal-clear waters of the Kamionka stream.
Tips:
- The trail is suitable for children and older visitors.
- For more ambitious hikers, the trip can be continued to the summit of Wysoka (1,050 m above sea level).
- It is also possible to take the chairlift to Bukowinki and walk back down through the gorge, as shown on the map next to it.
- Not recommended after rainfall or during snowmelt.
Pieniny Road – scenic walking trail along the Dunajec River
Route length: 9 km (one way)
Hiking time: approx. 3 hours
Difficulty level: easy
Starting point: Szczawnica – Red Monastery
Route description:
Pieniny Road is a picturesque trail running along the Dunajec River Gorge, connecting Szczawnica with the Red Monastery in Slovakia. The route is exceptionally pleasant and almost flat, which makes it ideal for a family walk. Along the way, you can admire beautiful views of the Dunajec River and the limestone peaks of the Pieniny Mountains surrounding it.
Attractions along the way:
- Dunajec River Gorge – spectacular landscapes.
- Opportunity to watch the raftsmen floating down the river on wooden rafts.
- Red Monastery – a historic monastery on the Slovak side.
Tips:
- You can return on foot or use a bicycle, which can be rented in Szczawnica.
- Do not forget your ID document, as the route ends in Slovakia.
- On the way back to Szczawnica, you can also take a Dunajec rafting trip.
Szlak w Białej Wodzie
Route length: approx. 6–8 km (depending on the chosen variant)
Hiking time: approx. 2–3 hours
Difficulty level: easy to moderate
Starting point: Jaworki – Biała Woda
Route description:
The Biała Woda Nature Reserve is one of the most picturesque places in the Little Pieniny Mountains. The trail leads through a wide valley along the Biała Woda stream, between characteristic limestone rocks with unusual shapes. The route is peaceful and not very demanding, making it ideal for a family walk or a light mountain hike surrounded by nature.
Attractions along the way:
- Unique rock formations, including Smolegowa Skała and Kociubylska Skała.
- The picturesque Biała Woda stream and wide meadows.
- A peaceful valley, ideal for relaxing away from the crowds.
- Panoramic views of the Little Pieniny Mountains and the surrounding ridges.
Tips:
- The trail is suitable for families with children.
- It is worth bringing comfortable trekking shoes.
- The hike can be extended towards Rozdziela Pass or Wysoka.
- The views are especially beautiful in autumn and spring.
Radziejowa Trail (1266 m.) – the highest peak of the Beskid Sądecki
Route length: approx. 14 km
Hiking time: 6–7 hours

Starting point: Siedlisko pod Szczerbakiem
Route description:
Radziejowa is the highest peak of the Beskid Sądecki and an excellent destination for lovers of longer mountain hikes. The trail leads through scenic forest paths and mountain ridges, offering peace, quiet and close contact with nature.
At the summit of Radziejowa there is an observation tower with a spectacular panorama of the Tatras, Pieniny, Gorce and Beskid Wyspowy mountain ranges. The trail is less crowded than popular routes in the Pieniny, allowing you to fully enjoy the mountain atmosphere.
Attractions along the way:
- Przehyba mountain shelter: possibility to rest and have a meal during the hike.
- Observation tower on Radziejowa: panoramic view of surrounding mountain ranges – perfect for photography.
Tips:
- The trail is moderately demanding, so good hiking shoes and sufficient water are recommended.
- The best time for the hike is early morning – sunrise views are unforgettable.
Szlak grzbietem Małych Pienin przez Wysoki Wierch (898 m n.p.m.)
Route length: approx. 13 km (one way)
Hiking time: 5–6 hours

Starting point: Szczawnica
Route description:
The ridge trail of the Little Pieniny Mountains starting in Szczawnica is an excellent option for lovers of long scenic hikes. The route begins in the center of Szczawnica and leads through Palenica (722 m above sea level), offering beautiful views of the Beskid Sądecki and the Tatras. Further on, the trail follows the picturesque ridge of the Little Pieniny, providing wide panoramas and close contact with nature.
The main highlight of the hike is Wysoki Wierch (898 m above sea level), one of the most scenic peaks in the Little Pieniny Mountains. From the summit, there is a spectacular panorama of the Pieniny Mountains, the Tatras, as well as the Slovak mountain ranges – the Levoča Mountains and Spiš Magura. Wysoki Wierch is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the landscape.
Attractions along the way:
- Palenica (722 m above sea level): the first scenic viewpoint on the trail, with the option of taking a chairlift.
- Scenic ridge of the Little Pieniny: wide meadows and pastoral landscapes ideal for rest.
- Wysoki Wierch: one of the best panoramic viewpoints in the Pieniny region.
Tips:
- The trail is moderately long, so it is recommended to bring food and enough water.
- You can take the chairlift to Palenica to shorten the first part of the hike.
- You can return the same way or descend to Jaworki via the Durbaszka mountain hut.
